On Friday the 6th October 2006 staff at EOS Solutions UK in Livingston, ‘Dressed to Impress’ and helped raise money for charity when they took part in the ‘Jeans for Genes’ day.
The annual campaign is urging everyone to make an impression on the lives of children with genetic disorders simply by wearing their jeans and donating £2. Proceeds will help 10 national charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, WellChild and SPARKS, to fund vital genetic research to help alleviate and cure childhood genetic disorders.
Francesco Spina, a member of the EOS Solutions UK team, said: “We raised nearly £400.00. Everybody took part in a raffle and tombola for which all the staff brought in items. We even auctioned off one of our staff and the winner received a slap up meal for the two of them”.
Mikey McManus, a team coach was the lucky person to be auctioned, but not without incident. Commenting Mikey said: “I was coerced into wearing a dress provided for the occasion, and was paraded around the office which definitely gave the other staff something to laugh at. But it was all for charity and we raised quite a lot, which was very impressive. Getting involved was great fun and so easy, just by wearing a pair of jeans you are helping to change the lives of children with genetic disorders”.
